Smart Shopping Application using IoT and Recommendation System : An effective mobile assisted software application for grocery shopping
Conventional billing systems used in the supermarket nowadays are a big hassle for the customers as it creates a long waiting time for payment of the products purchased. To provide a solution for the above problem, we have designed a mobile-assisted software application called Smart Shopping Application using IoT and Recommendation System which can eliminate queues for billing throughout the supermarket. Using the application, we scan the products and then put them inside a Smart cart which is designed using Weight Sensors, Node MCU, and LCD to display the total weight of the items in the cart. Various products are recommended to the users simultaneously based on the previous purchase of different users and top sold items which are analyzed using Data Mining algorithms. Payment is enabled only after the total weight displayed in the cart is equal to the total weight scanned in the app. Authentication for payment of all products and exit is done using QR code generation. An optional transport facility is also provided for the users.
