AI-Enabled Healthcare for Next Generation

The future of healthcare is irrevocably linked to advances in technology, whether it’s microscopes, pulse oximeters, glucometers or artificial limbs. It is therefore not surprising that advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have already changed the field of healthcare. We can fully expect the future of health to be heavily influenced by AI and related technologies. This chapter outlines a vision for the future of health and describes how we will get there. The technologies, AI, and technologies that drive AI that are most relevant to this future of health and that support the practice of AI are articulated, leading to some examples of how the healthcare landscape has been and will be transformed by today’s innovations.
