Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing how human beings interact with technology, generating new content in domains such as art, design, music, healthcare and education. In this chapter, I look at foundational models like GANs, VAEs and Transformers (GPT and BERT), their applications in the real world and how they have changed the way we humans live. It also discusses the ethical and legal implications of generative AI for things like misinformation, deepfakes and ownership. Finally, the chapter finishes with emerging trends and the possible future of this quickly evolving field.
