Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Teacher Perspectives
This study explores university teachers’ awareness, usage, and perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. Survey data reveal that most teachers are aged 25–45 and hold advanced academic qualifications, with a high level of AI awareness (86.7%). The majority use AI moderately in their teaching practices and recognize its benefits in saving time, supporting personalized learning, improving student outcomes, and enhancing assessment processes. Teachers also emphasize the importance of AI training for effective integration. However, concerns were noted regarding skill dependency, ethical issues, and potential threats associated with AI. Overall, respondents exhibit a generally positive and future-oriented acceptance of AI in education, highlighting its growing significance in teaching and learning practices.
