An AI-Powered Progressive Web Application for Interactive Video Learning Using Pause-and-Ask Feature

Video-based learning has emerged as a major way of gaining knowledge in the current digital world. Nevertheless, learners may experience interruptions while watching videos if they need to pause them to look for information about certain aspects elsewhere. In order to tackle this problem, this paper will propose an educational PWA with an embedded "Pause-and-Ask" option that will allow users to engage with the video content actively. In order to implement the suggested idea, one should create a full-stack application featuring a PWA as its frontend, a backend designed to manage user queries and a MongoDB database to store video content along with its transcripts. Whenever the user pauses a particular video and sends a question regarding it, the system detects the timestamp and fetches the corresponding excerpt from the transcript. It then applies NLP algorithms powered by technologies like OpenAI or Whisper to produce contextually appropriate and timely answers. Such an approach provides several advantages: besides enhancing the overall learning process through prompt clarifications and better focus of the user, it also allows for further implementation improvements, such as multilingual capabilities, personalisation options, etc.
