INTEGRATING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION: AN ACADEMIC PERSPECTIVE

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the educational process represents a significant direction in the development of modern pedagogy. This study examines the effectiveness of using AI-based tools, particularly Chat GPT, in teaching English as a foreign language at the upper-secondary school level. The purpose of the research is to determine the impact of AI-assisted instruction on students’ language proficiency and academic achievement. The study was conducted during February–March 2026 and involved 18 eleventh-grade students. A quasi-experimental research design was applied, including pre-testing, systematic use of ChatGPT for grammar, vocabulary, and writing practice, and post-testing. Students’ learning outcomes were assessed using a five-point grading scale, along with indicators of average performance and quality of knowledge. The results indicate a positive influence of AI integration on students’ academic performance. The average score increased from 3.45 to 3.92, while the quality of knowledge rose from 57% to 73%. The findings suggest that AI tools support individualized learning, provide immediate feedback, and enhance students’ motivation. The study concludes that Artificial Intelligence serves as an effective supplementary resource in English language instruction and contributes to improving the overall quality of foreign language education.
