Exploring the Need to Develop Leadership Skills for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Professionals in Healthcare
As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes integral to healthcare innovation and infrastructure, healthcare organizations face a growing challenge: equipping technically proficient professionals with the leadership competencies necessary to operate effectively at the enterprise level. This qualitative study explores how healthcare organizations either support or impede the leadership development of AI and IT professionals and identifies strategies that best facilitate their transition from technical expertise to strategic leadership. Using three separate focus groups composed of change management consultants, AI technology managers, and leadership development trainers. The findings suggest that most organizations fail to offer effective leadership training programs for AI professionals operating in high-risk, compliance-heavy environments.
