The modern development of the information society is accompanied by the rapid spread of information and communication technologies, which are actively implemented in various fields of activity, including the military sphere.The effective performance of official duties under modern conditions increasingly depends on the ability of a serviceman to work with digital information resources, analyze large volumes of data, and use automated control systems and communication tools.In this regard, the formation of information and communication competence acquires particular importance as an essential component of the professional competence of a serviceman, ensuring the development of professional skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to make prompt managerial decisions in complex conditions.The article examines the essence of information and communication competence and determines its role in the professional activity of servicemen.Modern scientific approaches to the interpretation of this concept are analyzed, and its structural components are identified, including cognitive, operational, communicative, and motivational components.The main areas of application of information technologies in military activities are outlined, including command and control systems, intelligence data processing, communication organization, logistical support, and the professional training of servicemen.The results of the study indicate that the development of information and communication competence contributes to improving the effectiveness of the performance of official duties, enhancing the quality of managerial decision-making, fostering analytical and critical thinking, developing
