Revitalizing E-Commerce Data Security: Innovations and Regulatory Disputes in the Digital Age
Retail breaches cost an average of $4.45 million in 2023, which has increased by 15% from the previous year. 28% of cyber break-ins happen to retail establishments, with the blame for 85% of the break-ins caused by some human error. The global scale of e-commerce exceeded $5.7 trillion in 2023, with breaches occurring across three levels: retail, supply chain, and ransomware. The most recent con trick, where cybercriminals fake the email of an individual’s boss to demand a money transfer to Poland, proves that for smaller suppliers connected to the big platforms, “spear phishing” is now the greatest threat. This paper will discuss how new technologies based on blockchain and artificial intelligence/machine learning can help security. By means of algorithms, machines analyze or make final judgments about data on a reliable and consistent machine basis that is secure from manipulation or misuse by an individual. Secure encryption, staff training, and compliance with new regulations such as the GDPR and California Consumer Privacy Act are all important. The need for strong, collective computer security is well-illustrated by high-profile cases like Amazon's legal challenge by the FTC in 2023. We should collectively formulate these rules to establish a common worldwide standard.
