The integration of autonomous robotic systems into healthcare is transforming clinical practice, hospital management, and patient experience worldwide. Robotic technologies are increasingly applied in surgery, diagnostics, rehabilitation, logistics, and long-term care, offering improvements in precision, efficiency, and accessibility. However, the growing autonomy of these systems introduces profound ethical challenges related to accountability, transparency, patient autonomy, data protection, algorithmic bias, and the preservation of human dignity. This review synthesizes recent interdisciplinary research on the ethics of healthcare robotics, focusing on autonomous medical systems. Drawing on contemporary studies from medical ethics, robotics, law, and humanrobot interaction, the paper examines normative tensions arising from machine autonomy in clinical decisionmaking. Ethical implications across different application domains are analyzed, and emerging governance frameworks are discussed. The review concludes by proposing principles for responsible innovation that support ethical alignment while enabling technological progress in modern healthcare.
