Verification of Discussion-Stimulating System for Online Creative Meetings using Key Phrases and Mind Maps

Abstract

We have proposed a "Creative Discussion-Stimulating System" to support creating various ideas during Web meetings. In order to stimulate the emergence of new ideas among multiple people, we have installed three functions in the Web meeting system: a) the mind map production function, b) displaying the paper title, and c) displaying subtopics. We verified the subtopic and paper title displays as factors of discussion stimulation. The analysis of i) the speech-based objective data recorded during the discussions and ii) the subjective evaluations of the participants' use of the system suggested that 1) a higher number of participants in the discussion elevates both the ease of the emergence of new ideas and the satisfaction of the displayed subtopic and that 2) the discussion in a multi-person discussion group becomes more active when the users utilize the proposed system.
