A Multi-Objective Optimal Reconfiguration of Electrical Networks to Improve Power Quality Aspects

This paper describes a methodology to improve power quality aspects such as real power loss and voltage sag/year problem by means of electrical system reconfiguration. This multi-objective optimal reconfiguration problem is carried out by means of a Tabu Search implemented algorithm taking into account operations aspects of the system by means of a power flow study. Also, this technique finds Pareto efficient solutions. A case study in an IEEE test system is presented to show how the multi-objective technique works and the effectiveness of its application.

Abstract

This paper describes a methodology to improve power quality aspects such as real power loss and voltage sag/year problem by means of electrical system reconfiguration. This multi-objective optimal reconfiguration problem is carried out by means of a Tabu Search implemented algorithm taking into account operations aspects of the system by means of a power flow study. Also, this technique finds Pareto efficient solutions. A case study in an IEEE test system is presented to show how the multi-objective technique works and the effectiveness of its application.
