Sensor and Communication Considerations in UAV-WSN Based System for Precision Agriculture

The paper presents a hybrid UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) – WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) based system with application in a specific field: the precision agriculture. The main goal is to collect data from WSN via aerial platform. We propose a multi-agent system architecture (multi-UAVs, multi WSNs) and a specific implementation for the ground Wireless Sensors Network. The communication inside WSN is based on LoRa transmission protocol. The solution is a cheap one and the simulation results give the perspective of a large-scale utilization in agriculture. The experimental results were done on a two UAVs-two WSNs configuration which can be controlled and programed at distance via internet.
