Weather Information Acquisition System using Small Wireless Microcomputers and Environmental Sensors for Agricultural Sector

The empirical rules of farming that have guided farmers in Japan were previously inherited by their successors. However, these empirical rules have largely been lost with the exodus from farmlands due to generations of farmers passing away without being sufficiently replaced by successors. We have constructed a low-cost system for acquiring meteorological data using small wireless microcomputers and environmental sensors as one solution to this problem. In this paper, we present the proposed system and then explain the various problems that occurred in an experimental demonstration of the system. After that, we describe our solutions to those problems. In addition, we clearly visualize the collected environmental data.
