Abstract

Data protection devices encompass a wide range of hardware and software solutions and ideas designed to secure data at rest, in transit, or in use. Data Protection Device (DPD) has been implemented both at the software and hardware levels, aiming to protect the information stored within storage media or destroy it in case the devices have been stolen. Apart from the security that the module implements, this project aims to create a comprehensive product that aims to reduce the amount of theft and illegal resale on the second-hand market among personal devices. All these mechanisms are protected by the implementation of a physical component whose role is to verify the application of the instituted measures. In this paper we present a method that uses a signal-based communication method IMEI, or, International Mobile Equipment Identity number and permanently blocks access to the Wi-Fi, GSM and internal storage modules disabling them and also reducing the physical value of the mobile equipment.
