We apply a Memetic Algorithm (MA) to regression problems, incorporating a novel guiding function based on higher-order target derivatives. Evaluating this approach in low-data settings with continued fraction regression (CFR) reveals significant improvements in interpolation and extrapolation performance, and a reduction in spurious poles.
