The Role of IOT-Based Wearable Devices in Monitoring and Managing Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) Among Healthcare Workers

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a growing occupational health concern among healthcare professionals due to prolonged exposure to digital screens. Symptoms such as eye strain, headaches, and visual fatigue can impair productivity and overall well-being. Traditional interventions, including ergonomic adjustments and scheduled breaks, have shown limited effectiveness in real-time monitoring and prevention. Recent advancements in the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable technology offer new possibilities for proactive CVS management. This paper explores the role of IoT-based wearable devices in monitoring and managing CVS among healthcare workers, assessing their effectiveness in detecting early symptoms, providing real-time feedback, and promoting preventive measures. A systematic review of recent literature on IoT-driven wearable technologies for eye health monitoring was conducted. Studies focusing on smart glasses, vision-tracking sensors, and AI-powered alerts were analyzed to evaluate their impact on reducing CVS symptoms. Additionally, challenges such as device accessibility, user compliance, and data privacy concerns were examined. Findings suggest that IoT-based wearables improve early detection of CVS symptoms by monitoring blinking patterns, screen exposure time, and posture. AI-driven feedback mechanisms enhance user adherence to preventive strategies, reducing the severity of symptoms. However, cost, privacy concerns, and technology acceptance remain key challenges. IoT enabled wearable devices represent a promising solution for mitigating CVS among healthcare workers. Integrating these technologies into workplace policies could enhance occupational health outcomes. Future research should focus on optimizing device affordability, improving user adoption, and exploring AI driven customization for personalized CVS prevention.
