Such offerings usually include a generic description of the items and an opaque price that is typically lower than a standard offered price for the items. By identifying customers who may have an interest in such items, and tailoring opaque recommendations of such items to such customers, an online marketplace may increase the likelihood that such items will sell to customers while protecting an owner of a brand of such items from any negative implication or connotation that may be associated with offering such items at substandard prices.
