Unique URLs for browsing tagged content

Techniques for tagging document pages via unique URLs are described herein. According to one embodiment, tags used to tag document pages and associated with one or more communities are stored in a storage. Each document page is identified via a unique URL. Each tag is associated with URLs of the document pages and each tag is associated with one or more communities. During browsing a particular document page in a main window of a browser, a URL of the browsed page is displayed in a sidebar window communicatively coupled to the main window. A tag input field is displayed in the sidebar window to receive a tag to be associated with the displayed URL, such that the tagged particular document page can be retrieved subsequently via the associated URL based on the tag.
