People Analytics Maturity and Talent Management

This chapter focuses on a recent scientific study that includes measures of financial performance, talent management, and people analytics maturity and the evidence linking all three. It defines talent management and people analytics. The chapter explores talent management and people analytics. A key assumption underlying the growth of interest in talent management is that effective talent management is a leading indicator of organisational performance. Data analytics in human resource management (HRM) followed the emergence of the digital economy and Big Data. Explanations about how people analytics links HRM to operational and financial outcomes are rooted in various theoretical models. Managers make predictions concerning how operational outcomes are linked to financial outcomes in a series of cause-and-effect propositions. The retrieved information must be communicated in useful ways that are either configured into electronic or printed standard and ad hoc reports and finally into ‘dashboards’ and ‘scorecards.’.
