Assessing the Adoption and Future Trends of RPA in Education Industry: A Systematic Literature Review

The wave of technological developments in recent decades have been largely impacting on the continuation and workflow of different industries including education. The education industry has started to take notice of the advantages that technology brings in creating easily accessible sources of information and streamlining processes to promote student engagement. RPA or robotic automation process is a software tool that utilities robots or ‘bots’ to automate repetitive tasks which are manually executed by staff or employees. The significance of RPA has been recognized in many other fields including banking, medicine, and logistics as it assists in performing basic repetitive tasks such as data entry, validation, email generation, scheduling, and more. RPA has gained significant attention in the education field for its ability to enhance learning processes, educational experience and promote operational efficiency. Through a review of related topics of research, this paper will dive into the nature of RPA and the impact of its implementation in the educational settings. In addition, this paper will discuss the potential of RPA and how its contribution affects to lessen the burden of unimportant tasks and allowing a more productive shift of tasks for the educators and staff within an educational organization. Aside from its benefits, the current and potential challenges of RPA implementation are reviewed.
