As our world transforms digitally accelerated by technologies like AI, blockchain, quantum computing, and so on, one has to ponder the results of these technologies in terms of machines themselves. We have established that there is a polarity between creating services that will be both beneficial and transparent for all, to creating services that have the potential for consumer abuse examples like “intelligent” finance; “intelligent” healthcare; “intelligent” travel and hospitality all in the form of “benevolent” profiling. Profiling occurs predictively given past behavior as inputs and provided to companies that want to monetize these behaviors. The new AI-generated BOT, ChatGPT [1] may have its challenges but the Pandora’s box has been opened. [2] In recent years, the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence have revolutionized industries, empowered innovation, and raised profound ethical questions about the role of machines in our society. As AI systems continue to evolve and exhibit levels of autonomy not seen before, the importance of instilling ethical principles into these machines has gained significant traction. The concept of ethical machines, or AI systems programmed to operate in alignment with ethical norms and values, has emerged as a crucial area of focus in the field of AI ethics. There is even movement to “pause” the use of ChatGPT with Italy temporarily banning its use due to privacy concerns. [3] Further, the “Godfather of AI, Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, has warned of the “growing dangers from developments in the field,” asserting that AI chatbots were “quite scary.” [4] Open AI CEO (ChatGPT) Sam Altman, has stated that that “artificial intelligence should be regulated by a US of Global Agency,” that the concern about ChatGPT’s use “has expanded to broader concerns about the ability if the latest ‘generative AI’ tools to mislead people, spread falsehood, violate copyright protections, and upend some jobs.” [5]
