AI-MEDIATED GENRE-BASED INSTRUCTION FOR IMPROVING TECHNICAL REPORT WRITING IN ENGINEERING ESP COURSES
The rapid development of artificial intelligence has changed ESP writing instruction in technical universities. This article proposes an AI-mediated genre-based model for improving engineering students’ technical report writing competence. The model combines genre analysis, teacher guidance, AI-assisted drafting, peer review, ethical verification and reflective revision in one instructional cycle. It argues that AI should not replace the teacher or the learner’s responsibility, but should function as a scaffold for understanding genre structure, improving lexical accuracy, checking coherence and revising technical documents according to professional standards.
