AI Witness for the Prosecution or the Defense?

This chapter&s;s game introduces aspects of mock trials that usually go unnoticed. Inconsistencies in eyewitnesses’ (all customized chatbots) written statements and live accounts given during preparation for testifying in court showcase discrepancies that mimic GenAI foibles. Students, role-playing attorneys for the prosecution or defense, must reconcile these lapses, as well as discrepancies within photos and other evidence (both GenAI-generated) collected by crime scene investigators, by employing logical reasoning. Learners must also exercise sound judgment in determining which GenAI evidence will help their case, which might hinder it, and how to navigate ambiguities.
