A STUDY ON HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AT HDFC BANK

Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a vital role in enhancing employee performance and achieving organizational goals. The success of any organization largely depends on the effective utilization and management of its human resources. This study focuses on analyzing the Human Resource Management practices adopted by HDFC Bank and their impact on employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. The study examines various HR functions such as recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation management, employee welfare measures, and promotion policies. The objective is to understand how these HR practices contribute to employee motivation, productivity, retention, and overall organizational growth. Data for the study were collected through questionnaires administered to employees and supplemented by information from books, journals, company reports, and websites. The findings reveal that a majority of employees are satisfied with the working environment, recruitment process, training programs, performance appraisal system, and welfare facilities provided by the organization. Effective HR practices have positively influenced employee commitment, job satisfaction, and performance. However, certain areas such as salary increment policies and continuous employee development require further improvement. The study concludes that Human Resource Management is a key factor in organizational success. By adopting employee-friendly HR policies and continuously improving HR practices, HDFC Bank can enhance employee satisfaction, reduce turnover, and maintain its competitive position in the banking industry. The study also provides useful suggestions for strengthening HR functions and improving organizational effectiveness.
