Scientific and Pedagogical Role of Artificial Intelligence in Language Acquisition

In the modern world, the importance of learning foreign languages is steadily increasing. Under the influence of globalization, individuals strive to acquire one or more foreign languages in order to establish effective communication across countries and cultures. Proficiency in foreign languages is considered a key factor for success in both the international labor market and the academic sphere. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have been widely used to enhance the effectiveness of this process. In particular, chatbots serve as an innovative tool by providing students with real-time interactive experiences and supporting the development of their language skills. Traditional teaching methods do not always fully meet the needs of Azerbaijani students, which creates new opportunities for the use of chatbots. The lack of speaking practice, absence of a language environment, and failure to consider individual learning pace negatively affect the language learning process. Therefore, chatbots can play a significant role in personalizing and making language learning more accessible within the Azerbaijani educational context. The main objective of this article is to evaluate the potential of chatbot technologies in foreign language learning among Azerbaijani students based on scientific and pedagogical principles. Keywords: artificial intelligence, language, acquisition, technology, environment
