Governing for the People Act, Title IV "Awards for artificial intelligence literacy programs."
Authorizes the Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) to make awards to eligible entities for developing AI literacy programs. Uses funds to create educational materials, provide training to underserved communities, raise awareness, and evaluate program effectiveness. Prioritizes applications committed to serving marginalized communities and proposing scalable approaches. Requires award recipients to report annually on demographics served and program impact. Instructs the Secretary of Labor, Secretary of Commerce, Administrator of the Small Business Administration, and Secretary of Education to report to Congress on enhancing AI literacy within their respective sectors. Requires these agencies to identify and adapt existing awards to include AI literacy. Mandates consultation with stakeholders and public availability of reports. Defines key terms including AI, AI literacy, and ethical AI.
