Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming global economies, governance structures, and social systems. While AI offers unprecedented opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and scalability, it simultaneously introduces complex ethical challenges that demand urgent attention. This research paper examines the ethical implications of AI and the importance of responsible technology in ensuring sustainable and inclusive development.The study explores key issues such as algorithmic bias, lack of transparency, data privacy concerns, accountability gaps, and socio-economic disruptions caused by automation. It highlights the need for ethical frameworks grounded in fairness, accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness (FAT principles). The research also analyzes global and national policy initiatives, including the OECD AI Principles, the European Union AI Act, and India’s “AI for All” strategy.Through case studies in healthcare, facial recognition, and e-commerce platforms, the paper demonstrates real-world ethical dilemmas and their societal impact. A multi-layered framework for responsible AI is proposed, integrating ethical design, governance mechanisms, and continuous monitoring.The findings emphasize that ethical AI is not merely a technical issue but a socio-political necessity. The paper concludes that collaborative efforts among stakeholders are essential to ensure that AI development aligns with human values and contributes to a sustainable digital future.
