The Proposed AI Maturity Framework

This chapter introduces the proposed AI Maturity Framework, constructed around six core dimensions: (1) Strategic Leadership and AI Vision, (2) Data, Technology, and MLOps Foundations, (3) Human Capital, Skills, and Change Enablement, (4) Organizational Culture and Human–Technology Integration, (5) Governance, Risk, Ethics, and Compliance (aligned with emerging AI Act requirements), and (6) Value Realization and Performance Measurement. The structure of the framework is grounded in a comprehensive review of the existing literature, which informed the conceptual development and subsequently guided the empirical research described in the chapter. The authors distinguish five maturity levels that reflect the progressive advancement of AI capabilities within enterprises: nascent, developing, scaling, integrated, and optimizing. The chapter is structured into eight subsections ( 4.1 – 4.8 ). subsection 4.1 outlines the theoretical and methodological foundations of the model, including the maturity levels, the six dimensions, and the underlying transition logic. Subsection 4.8 concludes the conceptualization through a detailed elaboration of the sixth dimension, thereby completing the presentation of the overall AI maturity construct.
