Introduction

This chapter consists of presenting the research problem and literature gap (point 1.1), objectives of the book and research questions (point 1.2), scope of research with Polish context of this research (point 1.3), and the structure of the book. This monograph seeks to fill this gap by integrating theoretical perspectives from management, organizational theory, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence research. Its goal is to propose a coherent model of AI maturity and its contextualization. The monograph seeks to integrate technological and managerial perspectives by framing AI maturity as an organizational capability encompassing strategy, data and technology infrastructure, human capital, organizational culture, governance and risk management mechanisms, and the capacity for value realization. The primary objective of this monograph is to develop a coherent, theoretically grounded, and empirically validated model of artificial intelligence (AI) maturity in organizations, one that conceptualizes the development of AI-related capabilities as a multidimensional, nonlinear, and context-dependent process. The book is both theoretical and applied. The monograph examines artificial intelligence (AI) maturity in enterprises from the perspective of management, digital transformation, and the development of organizational capabilities.
